Biological Activators / Soil Conditioners

These products are often misunderstood. They are not really fertilizers as they only have small amounts of readily available nutrient, some of which may feed plants but the real purpose of these products is to feed microbes which proliferate when fed and have multiple benefits. Microbes break down nutrients into plant available forms, they are able to transport nutrients to plants, effectively work as a storage bank for nutrients, improve soil structure and help prevent erosion, fix nitrogen the list goes on and is still being discovered!

Mixing Bio-Active, Bio-Catalyst & Bio-K

The trio combination has been proven as very effective. In commercial use for over 15 years it has been applied by vegetable growers, strawberry growers, blueberry growers, cherry growers, vineyard and numerous others in the food producing industry.

​

The process creates an environment where biological process can proliferate thus produce top quality fresh fruit or vegetables.

​

A note of caution when mixing the products with water always ensure that the Bio-K is added last, when at least 60% of water has been added to the two part mixture, NB: if you add the three products in their neat state together coagulation will occur.

​

The recipe for the three items listed above is as follows:

  • 40 litres Bio-Active/hectare

  • 20 litres of Bio-Catalyst /hectare

  • 10 litres Bio-K / hectare

After the first two or three consecutive applications where the applications is to trees, vines or bushes the Bio-Active may be reduced to 20 litres, however vegetable growers would need to continue at the original rate (40 litre/Ha).

 

The combination of this system is very effective and will work for you, provided the ratios are adhered to, consult the Soilcharge person to vary application rates and frequency

PLUS For maximum return on investment alternate the Bio-Active, Bio-Catalyst and Bio-K mixture applications with the Fish Emulsion and Kelp

Soilcharge Bio-Active

Hydrolized Fish (certified organic)

​is an organic based fertiliser made from 100% Tasmanian food grade wild fish species, using its own natural enzymes in the digestion process to retain all of its valuable amino acids, naturally occurring enzymes, nutrients and trace elements.


Natrasol Fish Fertiliser is a rich source of trace elements and nitrogen that increases the growth of plants through the stimulation of some bacteria strains. The bacterial and actinomycete isolates are capable of producing auxins, gibberellins and cytokinins and appeared to use the fish as a source of nutrients.

Kelp Meal

Kelp Meal is a general purpose supplement, made from fresh Tasmanian seaweed that has been potable water washed before drying. It is high in vitamins and minerals and recommended by farmers, stock breeders and equestrians.

 

Studies carried out on the use of seaweed as part of the food ration in livestock have established that it provided significant benefit to animal health by the provision of minerals, vitamins, alginate and osmoregulatory compounds called betaines, that enhance beneficial gut bacteria so that food nutrients are really absorbed and better utilised.

Build and Protect

Build and Protect is a slow release, biologically enhanced Humate derived soil activator enhancing the soil and helping to release locked up nutrients such as phosphorous.


Build and Protect is specifically formulated from an extensive range of humate fertilizers and soil conditioners that are designed to work with nature and not against it, allowing the plant to decide how much or how little nutrient the plant requires. This process also means that the soil retains nutrients longer without them leaching.

​

Application rates:

For pasture and broadacre cropping, as a general rule apply 25-100kg per hectare. 

For home garden and lawns, Spread 30-70 grams per 1sq metre of soil at planting time in the first year.
Spread 150 grams per 3 sq metres for established lawns and water in (for the first year).


Outdoor shrubs and trees, 0-30 grams per kilogram of soil or potting mix. Place a layer of Build and Protect, then 15mm layer of potting mix then add tree or shrub.


Vegetables and outdoor flowers, 50-300 grams per square metre of soil at planting time (for the first year). Rate will vary
depending on the health and vitality of the individual garden bed, the basic soil type eg sand, sandy loam clay etc

N-Fix Soil Nutrient Concentrate

N-Fix Soil Nutrient Concentrate stands alone as a strong protozoan, fungal and bacterial food source, and as such acts as a catalyst for many of these products by providing the key that immediately releases the nutrients stored in the microbial biomass for strong plant growth and yield. N-Fix re-establishes the soil’s organic cycle and provides a living aerobic (air breathing) soil.
